Tuesday’s night’s GOP debate, sponsored by Fox Business News and Wall Street Journal, saw a narrowed field of candidates, dramatically pared down from the earliest debates. This unusually long primary election season has enabled voters to get an uncomfortably intimate view into the lives of candidates.

For the Republican Party, the discomfort is compounded by renegade candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson, who are usurping the GOPs long-nurtured evangelical voting base with politics that more accurately reflect their peculiar brand of social conservatism.

In the end, many have simply blamed the media for shining too bright a light on the myriad hypocrisies of the party during the debates.
