Appeals Court Halts Obama’s Signature Immigration Policies, DACA and DAPA
GUEST: Marisa Franco, Director of #Not1MoreDeportation Campaign.
An appeals court this week finally made a decision on a major lawsuit brought by more than 2 dozen states against President Obama’s signature immigration orders, DACA and DAPA. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and its companion policy, Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, were opposed almost from the start by Republicans. Now they’ve been stopped in their tracks by an appeals court, giving the Justice Department scant time to take the case to the Supreme Court. For millions of undocumented immigrants, this means yet more delays, risks of deportation, and possible family separation.
