The first confirmed case of Zika virus has been reported in Los Angeles County. Officials around the country are worried about the spread of the virus throughout the US and dozens of people have been confirmed infected in the past few days. Among them is a pregnant woman in New York. Globally there is a serious panic too as the World Health Organization’s Director General warned that the virus is “spreading explosively.”

Zika virus surfaced in the news just about a week ago in Latin America where pregnant women who caught the mosquito borne disease gave birth to babies with serious congenital brain abnormalities.
