GUEST: Arun Gupta, investigative journalist who has written for dozens of publications including the Washington Post, the Guardian, The Nation, and Salon. He recently wrote a piece on Raw Story called ‘The Oregon militant leaders are captured or dead — but anger toward the government lives on.’

Ammon Bundy, the leader of an armed white militia that occupied Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon for nearly a month, is in jail. He was arrested along with nearly a dozen others by FBI agents, together with Oregon state police in late January in a violent shootout that resulted in the death of one militia member, Robert “Lavoy” Finicum. But Bundy remains defiant despite the conspiracy felony charge that he faces, over using intimidation to prevent federal employees from accessing their workplace. Four members of the militia remain holed up at the refuge.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reports that the arrested men have lengthy criminal records that, “include cases of domestic violence, illegal firearm possession, terrorist threats, resisting arrest and drug crimes.”
