Chicago Activists Shut Down Trump Rally
GUEST: Arun Gupta, investigative journalist who has written for dozens of publications including the Washington Post, the Guardian, The Nation, and Salon.
Activists in Chicago disrupted a planned rally for Donald Trump at the University of Illinois at Chicago last Friday. The rally was to take place at the UIC Pavilion but as an organized group of anti-Trump activists descended, clashes broke out inside and outside the location, leading Trump to cancel.
It appears as though the activists who organized the disruption were a combination of UIC students, Black Lives Matter, and other Chicagoans. According to reports, “protesters outnumbered supporters by at least a 5-to-1 ratio.”
There were conflicting reports about whether Trump would cancel his planned rally in Cincinnati ahead of Tuesday’s primary races.
