“I Am Orange County”
GUESTS: Sandra Peña Sarmiento, director and producer and Victor Payan, editor and web instructor
Lest you think that Orange County looks like what you may have seen in television shows like “The OC,” “Real Housewives” and “Laguna Beach,” a number of high school and middle school students from the predominantly Latino community of Santa Ana have made a new documentary showing quite a contrasting picture. “I Am Orange County†captures poems of self-affirmation, images and testimonies from the recent historic pro-immigrant marches, and school walkouts. The thirty minute documentary is a production of the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center in partnership with OC Human Relations, and the Santa Ana Unified School District. “I Am Orange County,†is scheduled to premiere this Saturday. Sonali recently spoke with Sandra Peña Sarmiento, director and producer and Victor Payan, editor and web instructor for the “I Am Orange County,†project.
“I Am Orange County,” will premiere this Saturday, June 3rd, from 5pm – 8 pm at the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center, located at 2215 N. Broadway, Santa Ana
