Al Franken Looks Set to Win Minnesota Senate Seat
| the entire program
When election officials in Minnesota finished their vote recount on Saturday, Al Franken, the comedian-turned-politician was leading incumbent Norm Coleman by 225 votes for the state’s Senate seat. Minnesota’s canvassing board is expected to sign off on the results of the recount today – however, it will be a week before it is certified. New York Senator Charles Schumer has called for Franken to be seated tomorrow when the Senate convenes. But there is still a court case by Coleman’s campaign pending and Republicans are vowing to block Franken’s seating until that has been resolved.
