US Mosques Face Bombs, Threats, Vandalism
GUEST: Ibrahim Hooper, National Communications Director of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
A mosque in Cincinatti, Ohio, was bombed last December with two pipe bombs. The FBI has opened an investigation into the blasts that is on-going. The same mosque this month received a phone call threatening Muslims in general and warning of another blast. Also this month, a man in Lewiston, Maine was accused of tossing a frozen pig’s head into a mosque. The FBI is also investigating that case. Meanwhile in June, a bullet-riddled Quran was thrown at the entrance of a mosque in Tennessee. In Michigan City, Indiana, vandals shot holes in the copper dome of a mosque, smashed a number of windows and scratched “KKK” on the sign at the Islamic Center of Michigan City. In Arizona, on June 11th and 12th, handmade posters carrying anti-Islamic messages were found taped to the Islamic Community Center of Tempe, and the Council on American Islamic Relations.
