An online article on Forbes magazine entitled “Don’t Marry Career Women,” has caused a firestorm of controversy and debate in the blog world. In the article by Michael Noer, marrying a career woman is “asking for trouble. If they quit their jobs and stay home with the kids, they will be unhappy. They will be unhappy if they make more money than you do. You will be more likely to fall ill. Even your house will be dirtier.” Noer cites several studies in his article that seem to butress his claims. In fact many outlets such as the New York Times have published stories over the years undermining feminism and working women, and claiming that both husbands and children are happier when women stay at home.

The Forbes Magazine article by Michael Noer was originally in the “News” section of the Magazine on 08/23/06. A day later, it was switched to the “Opinion” section, with a last minute rebuttal by a woman writer. Read both articles here.
