Robinson’s Racist, Homophobic Campaign
GUEST: Elliot Mincberg, Legal Director and Senior Vice President of People for the American Way
The results of this November’s Congressional elections could have a serious impact on national and international politics with voters favoring many Democrats. Today we’ll take a look at one race in North Carolina where a Republican candidate is challenging an incumbent Democrat. Republican Vernon Robinson, a former member of the Winston-Salem City Council, is challenging Brad Miller, a two term Democrat representing the 13th district in North Carolina. What distinguishes Robinson’s campaign, is the openly racist rhetoric in his campaign ads and attacks on Miller. Robinson, who is Black, accuses Miller of offering handouts to immigrants and costing voters their jobs.
