Gay Marriage: For Better or for Worse?
| the entire program
GUEST: William N. Eskridge, co-author of “Gay Marriage: For Better or for Worse? What We’ve Learned from the Evidence”
Republicans are gearing up for this year’s Congressional elections by focusing on several issues to rally ultra conservative voters around. They include the all-time favorite – abortion, as well as immigration, and same-sex marriage. Today we focus on same-sex marriage with author William N. Eskridge, whose new book is “Gay Marriage: For Better or for Worse? What We’ve Learned from the Evidence.” In the book, Eskridge and his co-author Darren R. Spedale, look to Scandinavia for empirical evidence about the benefits of same-sex marriage. Gay couples in Scandinavia have had the right to marry since 1989. Eskridge is the John A. Garver Professor of Jurisprudence at the Yale Law School.
